Nature's Great Events

Nature's Great Events is a BBC wildlife documentary series narrated by David Attenborough, featuring some of the world's most spectacular wildlife events. The series looks at how seasonal changes powered by the sun cause shifting weather patterns and ocean currents, which in turn create the conditions for some of the planet's most spectacular wildlife events.

Nature's Great Events consists of six episodes, each of which features a different event set in one of the world's most iconic wildernesses: The Great Melt, which shows how different species respond to the annual summer thaw of sea ice in the Arctic; The Great Salmon Run, which features the annual salmon run on the west coast of North America and shows how the salmon run affects the ecosystem in the region; The Great Migration, which features the life of the Ndutu lion pride and shows how the seasonal changes affect animals around the Serengeti; The Great Tide, which features the sardine run around South Africa's east coast, where various predators including sharks and dolphins gather to hunt the prey; The Great Flood, which features the annual flooding of the Okavango Delta in Botswana; The Great Feast, which features the summer plankton bloom along the coast of British Columbia and Alaska.

The series is full of breathtaking images such as humpback whales hunting herrings as a team, Cape Gannets diving into the sea and hunting sardines, and the dramatic change of the Okavango Delta by flood. How the crew could film those nature's great events is shown in a 10-minute segment, Nature's Great Events, which is attached to the end of each episode.
