Conquistadors

Conquistadors is a BBC documentary series presented by Michael Wood, exploring the expeditions of some of the most famous Spanish Conquistadors. The series consists of four episodes, each of which looks at a different expedition to the Americas by Spanish Conquistadors including Hernan Cortes and Francisco Pizarro. In the first episode of the series, Michael Wood retraces Hernan Cortes' expedition and looks at the fall of the Aztecs. In the second episode, he follows the same routes as Francisco Pizarro stepped in the Incas. Then he retraces the expedition by Francisco de Orellana who failed to find El Dorado, but discovered the Amazon. And in the last episode, he explores Cabeza de Vaca's expedition routes from shipwreck in the coast of Texas to his return to Spain.


Conquistadors: Episode 1 - The Fall of the Aztecs
This episode retraces the expedition routes by Hernan Cortes and looks at the fall of the Aztec Empire.

Conquistadors: Episode 2 - The Conquest of the Incas
Francisco Pizarro hoped to find great riches in the land of the Inca when he set off on his third voyage to the new world in 1527.

Conquistadors: Episode 3 - The Search for El Dorado
This episode explores the expedition routes by Francisco de Orellana who failed to find El Dorado, but discovered the Amason.

Conquistadors: Episode 4 - All the World is Human
Cabeza de Vaca was shipwrecked off the coast of Texas in 1528 and lived with Indians for eight years. Upon his return to Spain, he wrote a book based on his experiences.
