Islam: Empire of Faith is a three-part PBS documentary series that details the history of Islam from the birth of the Islamic Prophet, Muhammad to the Ottoman Empire. The first episode "The Messenger" deals with the life of the Prophet Muhammad, his early life, his encounter with God Almighty and the birth of the Islam. The second episode "The Awakening" focuses on the profound impact that Islamic civilisation has had on Western culture and the course of world history. The third and final episode "The Ottomans" tells the dramatic story of how the Ottomans established a Muslim empire more far-reaching than any that had come before.
