PC 3200: Electromagnetic Sensors and Photonic Devices
PC 3200: Electromagnetic Sensors and Photonic Devices. Instructor: Prof. Keith Cohn, Department of Physics, NPS (Naval Postgraduate School). The goal of the course is to provide a physics overview of electromagnetic detector systems, including sensors, lasers, and fiber optic technologies. Topics covered in this course include an overview of electromagnetic spectrum; light interaction with matter, semiconductor basics; radiometry; photon sources such as blackbodies, LEDs, and lasers; detector technologies - photon detectors and thermal detectors; introduction to optical fibers and their applications; and introduction to radar.
