How the Earth was Made (Season 2) is a 13-part documentary television series aired on the History Channel, focusing on different geological features and processes of the Earth. The series examines some of the most well-known locations and geological phenomena in the world, including the Grand Canyon, Vesuvius, Sahara, the birth of the Earth, Yosemite, Death Valley, Everest, and the Pacific Ring of Fire. Using interviews with experts, geological evidence, and computer generated graphics, the series explains in an easy-to-understand way how those locations and geological phenomena have been shaped by the immensely powerful, and at times violent, forces of geology.

A look at how the Grand Canyon in Arizona was believed to have been formed by the slow draining of an ancient lake which formed the Colorado River and carved the canyon out over millions of years.
