8.334 Statistical Mechanics II: Statistical Physics of Fields

8.334 Statistical Mechanics II: Statistical Physics of Fields (Spring 2014, MIT OCW). Instructor: Professor Mehran Kardar. This is the second term in a two-semester course on statistical mechanics. Basic principles are examined in this class, such as the laws of thermodynamics and the concepts of temperature, work, heat, and entropy. Topics from modern statistical mechanics are also explored, including the hydrodynamic limit and classical field theories. (from ocw.mit.edu)

Lecture 13 - Position Space Renormalization Group, Part 1

In this lecture, Prof. Kardar introduces the Perturbative Renormalization Group, including Lattice Models, and Exact Treatment in d=1.
