Triumph of Life

Triumph of Life is a six-part PBS documentary series narrated by Liev Schreiber, telling the story of evolution of life on Earth. Life on this planet has fought a ceaseless battle for survival since it first appeared some four billion years ago. The series begins with a penetrating look at the process of evolution and the driving force behind it - genes. The second episode examines the evolution of sex, which allows a species to pass its genes along from generation to generation. The third episode deals with an evolutionary arms race between predators and prey. The fourth episode takes a close look at the alliances that animals have forged in a bid to stay alive. The fifth episode investigates the notion of "the survival of the smartest". And the sixth and final episode explores why some species survive while others become extinct.
