When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions is a Discovery Channel documentary series narrated by actor Gary Sinise, looking at the NASA missions about human spaceflight. Consisting of six episodes, the series documents American human spaceflight, spanning from the first Mercury flights through the Gemini program to the Apollo moon landings, the Space Shuttle, and the construction of the International Space Station. When We Left Earth features interviews with celebrated astronauts such as John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Charlie Duke, as well as NASA officials including flight directors Chris Kraft, Gene Kranz, and Glynn Lunney.

Episode 4 - The Explorers
Giving a special look at Apollo 13, Apollo 15, and the space station Skylab, this episode looks at the Apollo mission after Apollo 11.

Episode 5 - The Shuttle
This episode features the flights of the Space Shuttle, including the first flight of the Columbia, the Challenger disaster, and the launch of the Hubble Space telescope.

Episode 6 - A Home in Space
This episode looks at the recent shuttle program featuring the repair of the Hubble Space Telescope, the construction of the International Space Station.
