MUS 239: Introduction to World Music

MUS 239: Introduction to World Music (Missouri State University). Instructor: Dr. John Prescott. This course surveys the selected musical traditions of the world. It gives an exploration of music from various cultures and time periods and the ways in which music promotes self-understanding by reflecting recurring patterns of human behavior. Students will also develop a music vocabulary and listening skills through exposure to recordings, lectures and assignments about stylistic elements and analysis.
