MUS 241: The Language of Music

MUS 241: The Language of Music (Missouri State University). Instructor: Dr. Amy Muchnick. This course is a study of the ways music creatively expresses self-understanding, cultural environment, and aesthetic values from ancient to modern times. It provides a brief introduction to the many types of Western music from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, based on instrumentation and vocal practices: music of the Middle Ages (450-1450); Renaissance music (1450-1600); Baroque music (1600-1750); Classical music (1750-1820); and 20th century music (1900s).
