Acoustic and Noise Control

Acoustic and Noise Control. Instructor: Dr. Abhijit Sarkar, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras. With increased awareness about the ill-effects of noise pollution, there is an increased demand to design quieter industrial products. Designing quiet products requires an appreciation of basic principles of acoustics and noise control. In this course, the students will be introduced to the foundations and concepts of acoustic wave propagation. Also, human factors influencing the perception of sound will be emphasized.
