Introduction to Fluid Machines and Compressible Flow

Introduction to Fluid Machines and Compressible Flow. Instructor: Prof. S. K. Som, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. This course provides an introduction to fluid machines and compressible flow. What is the fluid machine? A fluid machine is a device which converts the energy stored by a fluid into mechanical energy or vice versa. The subject Fluid Machines has a wide scope and is of prime importance in almost all fields of engineering. The course emphasizes the basic underlying fluid mechanical principles governing energy transfer in a fluid machine and also description of the different kinds of hydraulic and air machines along with their performances.
