Great Barrier Reef with David Attenborough is a three-part BBC documentary series hosted by David Attenborough, taking us on a journey through the past, present and future of the mighty Great Barrier Reef - the Earth's largest living structure. Almost sixty years after his first visit to the Great Barrier Reef, David Attenborough embarks on a personal journey of discovery to understand how the Reef was created and meets the animals that call it home.

Episode 1 - Builders


Episode 1 - Builders
David Attenborough descends beneath the waves in a state-of-the art submersible, the first of its kind to visit the reef. He meets some of the tiny coral animals who built the reef, creating an underwater wonderland.

Episode 2 - Visitors
In this second episode, David Attenborough continues his exploration of the Great Barrier Reef, aboard the research vessel Alucia. He discovers the creatures that visit the reef every year, from birds to whales, some travelling thousands of kilometres to get there.

Episode 3 - Survival
David Attenborough travels along the Reef to understand what the next few decades hold for this remarkable community of animals, as well as what is being done to save it.
